Elsie Grace McIntosh was born November 1, 1914, at Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Willard B. and Susan Lillian (Ruby) Alcorn. A lifelong resident, Grace made her home in Ottawa, until her death Monday, March 15, 2004, at the age of eighty-nine years. She attended Ottawa High School with the class of 1932. She was a lifelong homemaker. She also worked at Helen and Bill's Caf' and Cozy Kitchen, in Ottawa, and Doc's, in Osawatomie. Grace was presently a member of Richter United Methodist Church. She was a former member of North Baptist Church and Warren Black Post #60, American Legion Auxiliary, both of Ottawa. Grace was very devoted to her family and friends and loved spending time with them. All her life, she was an extremely giving person. She gave anything she had to others in need. She enjoyed quilting, reading 'anything she could get her hands on', and gardening. Her flower and vegetable gardens always grew well. Grace also enjoyed mushroom hunting and could even spot them, while riding in a car down the road. On April 18, 1936, Grace was united in marriage with Roy Franklin McIntosh at Ottawa. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1965. She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Verla Arlene McIntosh; six sisters, Ellen Hamilton, Alice Daugherty, Evelyn Johnson, Maude Conner, Myrtle Morrison, Sylvia Moody; and, brother, Bert Alcorn. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Wilkerson of Pomona; son, Douglas McIntosh of Richmond; sister, Irene Lipper of Green Belt, Virginia; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and, four great-great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2004. OFFICIANT: IN STATE: Mrs. McIntosh will lie in state after 8:00 a.m. Wednesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, where family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Wednesday evening.
