Elmer Ellsworth “Cocky” Ward, Jr., age 82, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on Sunday, May 29, 1927, in Franklin County, Kansas. He was the son of Elmer Ellsworth and Myrtal (Mace) Ward. He has been a lifelong resident of Franklin County. Cocky was an Equipment Operator for Fogle Quarry and Killough Constructions in Ottawa. Elmer served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1953, during the Korean War. He was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. Post #5901 of Ottawa. On Wednesday, May 14, 1952, Elmer was united in marriage with Jean Ann Hall in Ottawa, Kansas. She preceded him in death on May 1, 1983. He is survived by: Son-Cecil Ward and his wife Bonnie, Ottawa, KS; Son-Rodger Ward, Ottawa, KS; Daughter-Deborah Debbie Davis and her husband Norman, Ottawa, KS; Four-Grandchildren; Six-Gt.Grandchildren- He was preceded in death by Father-Elmer Ellsworth Ward, Mother-Myrtal (Mace) Ward and Eight Sibilings SERVICES: Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date. IN STATE: Cremation is planned. CEMETERY: Inurnment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to V.F.W.
