Elizabeth Pearl Slankard

Elizabeth Pearl 'Beth' Slankard was born on Monday, January 7, 1935, in Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Robert Allen and Edith Pearl (Griffin) Reed. A lifelong resident, she made her home in Pomona, Kansas, until her death on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at the age of seventy years. Beth graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1952. She also attended Business Training School in Kansas City. Beth worked for over twenty years as a school secretary for Unified School District #287, retiring in 1992. She also sold Avon for many years. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church; Pomona Chapter #305, Order of the Eastern Star; and Ottawa Assembly #136, Social Order of the Beauceant. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Beth deeply loved and enjoyed her family and grandchildren. Their family gatherings were so important to her. She loved people and enjoyed visiting, and playing Bingo, with her many friends. She was quite talented in crafts and had fun going to yard sales. She also enjoyed caring for her flower garden and loved watching the hummingbirds with 'Brownie'. On August 29, 1952, Beth was united in marriage with R. E.
