Elizabeth Cleo Wilson Carliss was born November 16, 1908, in Ottawa, Kansas, to Rev. James and Alneata Wilson. She was one of fourteen children and was preceded in death by all of them. In later years, with her and her youngest brother the only two left of the clan, Frederick would call her and always end the conversation with 'last one out, turn out the lights.' He passed away on November 29, 2004, leaving 'Liz' TO TURN OUT THE LIGHTS. Elizabeth attended Ottawa Schools, graduating from Ottawa High School in 1926. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she worked in many homes, later to return and care for her Father and Mother when they became ill, until their deaths. She was a member of Bethany Chapel Baptist Church. She married Eddie Carliss, Jr. who preceded her in death. In 1995, when her health began to fail, she moved to Wichita to live with her devoted niece, Wilma Williams. While living in Wichita, Elizabeth attended North Ash Church of the Nazarene as long as her health permitted. She didn't have children, but she was devoted to her nieces and nephews. Cherishing her memory besides Wilma are: George (Undrea) Small of Wichita, KS, Ronald Small of Ottawa, KS, Shirley (Delvin) McGilbray of Wichita, KS, Willene (Gary) Carter of Wichita, KS, Georgetta (Earl) Bartlett of Ottawa, KS, John 'Ricky' (Marissa) Wilson of Glendale, CA, Stephen (Valerie) Wilson of Van Nuys, CA, Craig (Jessica) Wilson of Cleveland, OH, Lionel Wilson of Kansas City, MO, Joan Faciane of Slidell, LA, Mary Small of Albany, GA; sister-in-law, Betty Wilson of Cleveland, OH; a host of great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews, and many friends.
