Elizabeth Ann O’Connor, 76, of Baldwin City, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Family will meet with friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 1st, at the mortuary. Following the memorial service there will be a dinner for family and friends at Trinity United Methodist Church, 628 N Cedar, Ottawa. Inurnment to be held later at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Elizabeth was born March 21, 1942, in Franklin County, Kansas, the daughter of Raymond and Audrey (O’Dea) Carpenter. She lived in Madras, Oregon and moved back and forth from Oregon to Ottawa growing up. In 1959, Elizabeth moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, returning to Ottawa in 1969, and to Baldwin City in 1999. Elizabeth was married to Alvin Ray Thurman June 26, 1971 in Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1996. She was united in marriage to Donald Gene “Joe” O’Connor November 21, 1999 in Arkansas. He survives of the home. Other survivors include children, Michael LaRue of Delray Beach, Florida, Michele Parkin (Tom) of Pomona, David Thurman of Boynton Beach, Florida, Ron O’Connor (Debbie) of Baldwin City, Kenny O’Connor (Odree) of Ottawa, and Karen Redinger of Baldwin City; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren with two on the way; aunt and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ray Carpenter. Elizabeth was a devoted lifelong homemaker. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa and attended Wellsville Baptist Church. Elizabeth enjoyed sewing, fishing, camping and a good day trip. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. The family suggests memorial contributions to Wellsville Baptist Church or Olathe Health Hospice House c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
