Eileen Martin , 91 of Lawrence Kansas passed away February 12, at the North Point Skilled Care Center in Paola, memorials to the Miami County Cancer Foundation. Eileen Peterson Martin was born on May 28, 1919 in Perth, North Dakota to immigrant Scandinavian parents, Inga Lindberg and Oscar Peterson. Eileen graduated from High School and beauty school in North Dakota. On November 8, 1941 she was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" Martin in North Dakota. She and her husband moved to Kansas where Eileen raised her family and made their home in Paola for 56 years until she moved to Lawrence in 1997 to live with her daughter, Martha Town. Her hobbies were sewing, cooking, ceramics and spending time with family. Eileen is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers, Milton, Ernie and Clarence Peterson, one infant sister Eileen Mae. Survivors are daughters Martha Town of Lawrence, Linda VanRheen and husband Jerry of Paola, Penny Martin of Lawrence, 4 grandchildren LuAnn Fahey and husband Sean of Paola, Jerrett VanRheen and Kelly of Rantoul, Tiny VanRheen and his wife Amy of Gardner, and Leah Newman of Lawrence, 5 great grandchildren ,Taylor Fahey, Libby,Alyx,Elly and Acy VanRheen, 2 sisters Kay Snipes and family, Irma Wilke and family, 1 brother Russell Peterson and family. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
