Eileen Adele Bowman

Eileen Adele Bowman was born February 13, 1928, at Pomona, Kansas. She was the daughter of William Oscar and Ella Emma (Wittman) Cain. A lifelong resident, Eileen made her home in Pomona, until her death Thursday, March 6, 2003, at the age of seventy-five years. Eileen graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1946 and attended business school in Topeka, Kansas. She worked a short time for White Star in Topeka and then at the Motor Vehicle Department in Ottawa. She worked twenty-eight years for USD 287 at the West Franklin District office as bookkeeper, during which time, served several years as clerk of the board. Eileen was a member of Pomona United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She loved to garden and raise flowers, always raising wonderful vegetables and very beautiful flowers. She crocheted, making doilies and afghans, and embroidered beautiful pillowcases. She was an excellent seamstress, making most of her family's clothing, sometimes making matching clothes for everyone in the family. She also had a doll collection, which she loved and enjoyed. On March 12, 1950, Eileen was united in marriage with George Valentine Bowman at Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2002. She is also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard L. Cain; and, sister, Valeta M. Chambers. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Jamison and her husband, Wes, of Ottawa; son, Kevin Bowman and his wife, Angel, of Pomona; and, three granddaughters, Misty Johnson and her husband, Jerald, of Emporia, Jamie Jamison of Ottawa, Angie Jamison of Ottawa. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2003. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Parsram Venkatsammy. IN STATE: Mrs. Bowman will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Dengel & Son Mortuary to service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Monday evening. CEMETERY: Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
