Edythe M. Figgins

Edythe M. Figgins, 75 ,of Pomona, Kansas died on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. She was the daughter of Clarence Swallow and Esther(Shaw)Swallow. She was born on Monday, March 23, 1931, in Pomona, Kansas. She lived in Pomona since 1957, moving from Ottawa. Edythe graduated from Quenemo High School with the class of 1949. She was a bookkeeper at Franklin County Sale Barn in Ottawa for thirty-one years, retiring in 1995. She was previously employed at Hallmark in Lawrence on the production line and as a bookkeeper for Ottawa Steel, Brecheisen Fencing in Quenemo, Pomona Nutrition Site, Hamilton Auction Clerk and their family business, Figgins Custom Hauling. She attended Pomona United Methodist Church. On March 18, 1950, Edythe was united in marriage with Lee Figgins in Quenemo, Kansas. They shared fifty-six years of marriage. Survivors include: Husband-Lee Figgins of Pomona, Kan., Son & daughter-in-law Wayne & Anita Figgins of Pomona, Kan., Daughter & son-in-law Gayle & Jay Bacon of Pomona, Kan., Brother & sister-in-law Clarence & Joyce Swallow of Manhattan,Kan., Brother & sister-in-law Leonard & Polly Swallow of Quenemo, Kan., Sister & brother-in-law Marge & Wally Bigham of Vassar, Kan., Grandchild-Daryl McFarland of Newton,Kan., Grandchild April Figgins Garcia of Kansas City, Kan. Grandchild Ryan McFarland of Emporia, Kan., Grandchild Mandy Figgins of Emporia, Kan. She was preceded in death by: Father Clarence Swallow Mother Esther (Shaw) Swallow Son Daryl William Figgins Sister Mary Louise Hughes Sister Elaine Swallow SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2007. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Figgins at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Friday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8:00 Friday evening.
