Edwin Morris Sheldon

September 29, 1922 — January 31, 2005

He was a lifelong Ottawa, Kansas resident. He took great pride in his family background in being among the earliest settlers in Franklin County. Eddie graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1941 and attended Ottawa University and Kansas University. He worked in the family farm equipment business as IH dealers from 1948 until the business was sold in 1983. After retirement in 1984, he worked parttime for the Agler & Gaeddert accounting firm and Briscoe Pharmacy. Eddie served in the United States Marine Corps in the south and western Pacific in World War II as a radar technician, and again during the Korean War. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church; involved in the early days of the Ottawa Community Theater; and, served on the Ottawa Recreation Commission for many years. He was also a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity at Kansas University. On March 19, 1948, Eddie was united in marriage with Patsy R. Patterson at Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home. SERVICES: Graveside inurnment services will be held at Highland Cemetery, 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2005 . OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Kent Matthews. IN STATE: Mr. Sheldon`s body has been cremated. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Westminster Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Midland Hospice, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
