Edward M. “Ed” Calkins, Sr., age 74, of Williamsburg, Kansas died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Olathe Medical Center. He was born on Saturday, November 26, 1938 in Olivet, Kansas the son of Gail M. and Violet (Williams) Calkins Ed was a lifelong Franklin County resident living in Williamsburg the last two years. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1956 and attended Ottawa University for two years. On August 6, 1967 Ed was united in marriage with Anita Crandell in Independence, Missouri. She survives of the home. Ed worked thirty-one years as an Assembler/Team Leader at General Motors Company at their Fairfax Plant in Kansas City, Kansas retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Cherry Street Wesleyan Church and the UAW Local 31 Kansas City, Kansas. He is survived by his: Wife – Anita Calkins of Williamsburg, Kansas Daughter – Juanita McConnell and husband Gary of Williamsburg Daughter – Violet Calkins of Williamsburg Daughter – Rose Stauch and husband Joseph of Williamsburg Son – Edward Calkins, Jr. of Ottawa, Kansas Son – Daniel Calkins and wife Stephanie of Lawrence, Kansas Son – Carl Calkins and wife Shana of Richmond, Missouri Son – Scotty Calkins and wife Nicole of Grandview, Missouri Brother – Walt Calkins and wife Joan of Kansas City, Missouri Grandchildren – 18 Great-Grandchildren - 1 He is preceded in death by his: Parents – Gail and Violet Calkins SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 19, 2012. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Calkins, Sr., at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, to the service hour where the family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. Tuesday. CEMETERY: Interment Antioch Cemetery, Homewood, Kansas MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Franklin County Dialysis Unit c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
