Edna Marie Tegtmeyer

Edna Marie Tegtmeyer was born on Sunday, October 25, 1925, in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Roy and Bessie (Jones) Pearce. A lifelong resident, Edna made her home in Ottawa, until her death on Sunday, December 30, 2007, at the age of eighty-two years. Edna graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1943. She was a homemaker, loving childcare provider, and assembler for King Radio from 1974 to 1992. She was a dedicated Girl Scout and Brownie Scout Leader and President of Hawthorne PTA. Edna was an outgoing, fun person who never knew a stranger. She deeply loved her family and greatly enjoyed spending time with, and caring for, her grandchildren. In her leisure time, she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing cards and games, especially, Yahtzee. She also enjoyed caring for her pet guppies and beautiful parakeets. On June 12, 1943, Edna was united in marriage with Raymond Edward Tegtmeyer, Sr. in Topeka, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 10,1966. She is also preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Ronnie Tegtmeyer; daughter, Susie McCurdy; and brother, Deely Pearce. Mrs. Tegtmeyer is survived by her daughter, Janice Tegtmeyer of Ottawa; three sons, Eddie Tegtmeyer and his wife, Brenda, of Ottawa, Walter Tegtmeyer of Ottawa, Dale Tegtmeyer and his wife, Cindy, of Ottawa; three sisters, Betty Horne of Ottawa, Bonnie Spielman of Ottawa, Geri Gipson of Pomona; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2008. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Tegtmeyer at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Wednesday evening.
