Edna Lucille Hamilton, age 94, of Ottawa, Kansas, formerly of Pomona, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Ottawa Retirement Village in Ottawa. She was born on Tuesday, March 26, 1918 in Wright, Kansas, the daughter of Henderson Harry” and Cora Eva (Forest) Reekie. Edna lived in western Kansas until moving with her parents to the Greenwood area in Franklin County in 1938 and Pomona in 1993. Edna graduated from Spearville High School with the class of 1936. Edna was a homemaker and also taught two years from 1937 to 1939 at Ford School, one year in 1939 in Douglas County, five years from 1940 to 1945 in Franklin County, and then helped her husband with their farm. Edna was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church, member and past Matron of Sadana Chapter #194 Order of Eastern Star of Williamsburg, taught Sunday School classes for many years, was a member of the Ladies Aid, and served as an officer of West Franklin Baptist Parish for a number of years. On November 28, 1939 Edna was united in marriage with Charles E. Chuck Hamilton in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1996. She is survived by her: Son, Donald Hamilton, and wife Vicki, of Burlingame, Kansas; Daughter, Lois Markley, and husband Jake, of Ottawa, Kansas; Sister-in-law, Betty Hamilton of Princeton, Kansas; Granddaughter, Penny Brewer, and husband Frank, of Topeka, Kansas; Granddaughter, Linda Firestone, and husband Randy, of Ottawa, Kansas; Granddaughter, Teri Webb, and husband Justin, of Pomona, Kansas; Granddaughter, Jackie Reginold, and husband Dale, of Osage City, Kansas; Granddaughter, Roxanne Walters of Leavenworth, Kansas; Granddaughter, Angie Parker of Greenville, Texas; Grandson, Craig Ogle, and wife Tammy, of Princeton, Kansas; Grandson, Don Hamilton II of Irving, Texas; fifteen Great-grandchildren and thirteen Great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in by her Husband, Charles E. “Chuck” Hamilton; Parents, Henderson Harry and Cora Eva (Forest) Reekie; Brother, Harry Edward “Ed” Reekie; Brother, William James “Jim” Reekie; Brother, David Arthur Reekie; Sister, Josephine Josie Stinson; Sister, Mae Platt; Sister, Elizabeth Lizzie Balla and Granddaughter, Lori Ann Hamilton. Services: Funeral services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 15, 2012. In State: Friends may pay respects to Mrs. Hamilton at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1-9 P.M. Sunday to service hour where the family will meet with friends from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday. Cemetery: Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin County.
