Edna Droge

Edna 'Bobbie' Droge was born on Thursday, May 10, 1928, in Baileyville, Kansas. She was the daughter of Ben and Minnie (Dick) Olberding. Bobbie was a resident of Ottawa, Kansas over forty years, moving to Shawnee, Kansas in 2001, where she made her home until her death on Friday, December 22, 2006, at the age of seventy-eight years. Edna graduated from Baileyville High School. She was an Optometric Assistant for Dr. Olin Wollen in Ottawa for twenty-six years, retiring in 1990. Bobbie was an outgoing, lovely lady. She was a friend to everyone and always ready to help anyone who needed her. Bobbie was known for her delicate and intricate crocheting skills. She created many lovely items that will be cherished by family and friends through the years. After retiring, she participated in craft shows, including the Lenexa Spinach Festival. Her custom orders are in several states and some countries. She was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa. On June 4, 1945, Edna was united in marriage with Les Droge at Baileyville, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1998. She is also proceeded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Viola Weatherford Antle, Gussie Henry, Lillian Fangman and Leona Droge. Bobbie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Myra and Larry Nourse of Shawnee, Kansas; granddaughter, Laurie Nourse and her husband, Travis Buzzell of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Margie Billinger of Independence, Missouri; brother, Bud Olberding of Seneca, Kansas, brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Arlene Olberding of Topeka, Kansas. SERVICES: A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2006. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Droge at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8:00 Wednesday evening. CEMETERY: Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Catholic Charities, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067. The Nourse family would like to express their thanks to the staff of the Sweet Life at Rose Hill and the Hospice Care of Kansas for their excellent care.
