Edith Mae Benedict was born July 20, 1917, at Osawatomie, Kansas. She was the daughter of William Louis and Ada Mae (Sutherland) Beebe. In the 1960`s, Mrs. Benedict resided in Raymore, Missouri, moving to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas in 1992, where she made her home until her death Saturday, February 9, 2002, at the age of eighty-four years. Edith graduated from Wellsville High School with the class of 1936, and later graduated from Topeka Beauty School. She was a lifelong homemaker and beautician, retiring in 1946. During World War II, she was a factory worker at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. She attended Sacred Heart Church in Ottawa. Edith was an expert seamstress in all types of needlework. She enjoyed making her own clothing and crocheting. She had fun going shopping, finding old copper molds, and collecting stuffed animals. She enjoyed the companionship of her puppies and was a faithful supporter of B. Martin Peck Animal Shelter in Ottawa. Most of all, Edith enjoyed spending time with her family and great-nephews. SERVICES: Memorial services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 13, 2002. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Fr. Steven Beseau. IN STATE: Mrs. Benedict has been cremated.
