Edith M. LeValley, aged 96, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, at Rock Creek of Ottawa in Ottawa, Kansas. Born on October 8, 1928, Edith was a cherished member of her community and a beloved step-mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was united in marriage on May 12, 1972 in Ottawa, Kansas to James M. LeValley. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2009.
Edith led a life filled with passions and dedication. She enjoyed her career as a switchboard operator for Hercules Ammunition Company, where she was known for her professionalism and friendly demeanor. Above all, Edith was devoted to giving back to her community; her proudest accomplishments included volunteering with Meals on Wheels, the First Christian Church, and the Ottawa Senior Center.
A true lover of nature, Edith found joy in flowers and gardening. She also had a deep passion for travel, having explored all 50 states of the United States. Edith embraced the R.V. life, which allowed her to make countless memories and see the beauty of various landscapes, further reflecting her adventurous spirit.
She is survived by her step-son Charles LeValley, step-daughter Bonnie Yvonne (Warren), three grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren who will fondly remember her warmth and kindness.
Along with her husband, Edith was also preceded in death by her parents, siblings, step-daughter Mary Jean Kitt, step-son Victor LeValley, step-son Jimmy LeValley, step-granddaughter Stephanie Herrick, and step-grandson Frank Hopkins. The legacy she leaves behind will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visitation will be held on January 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, both taking place at Dengel & Son Mortuary - Crematory, 235 S Hickory St, Ottawa, Kansas, 66067. Edith will be laid to rest at De Soto Cemetery, located at 34500 West 87th Street, De Soto, Kansas, at 1:00 PM, where family and friends can gather to honor and celebrate her life.
Edith M. LeValley touched the lives of many with her kindness, generosity, and love, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever be held in the hearts of her family and friends.
