Edith G. Elliott

Edith Gretna Elliott, age 80, of Louisburg, KS died Wednesday October 13, 2010 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. She was born February 14, 1930 at Sedalia, MO, the daughter of Clarence and Edith (Smith) Crain. She was united in marriage to Robert Eugene Elliott on March 19, 1959 at Sedalia, MO. She has lived in the Louisburg area since 1967. Edith worked as a Switchboard Operator for 10 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company before moving to Louisburg. She owned and operated Elliott Dry Cleaning and Laundry-Mat, Attic Storage and many rental properties. Edith worked as a receptionist at Elliott Insurance Group and delivered Meals-On-Wheels for the Senior Citizens and also served on their board of directors. She was a member of the Louisburg First Baptist Church since 1967 serving as a Deaconess. She was a Girl Scout leader and Stable Mate for the Shriners organization. She ran the concession stand for the Recreation Association for many years. Edith was presented with the Louisburg Chamber of Commerce "Citizen of the Year Award" in 2009. Edith never met a stranger. She loved life, family and her community. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Eugene (Gene) Elliott; 1 son, Allen Eugene (Rocky) Elliott; 1 brother, Clarence Crain and son-in law Don Kaiser. Survivors include 1 son, Rick Elliott and wife Kathy, Louisburg, KS; 2 daughters, Sue Knop and husband Wayne, Louisburg, KS; and Lesa Kaiser, Waverly, MO; daughter-in-law Mary Haines, Waverly, MO; 9 grandchildren and 9 1/2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the First Baptist Church, Louisburg, KS. Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 15, from 5:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be given to the First Baptist Church, Louisburg, KS. First Baptist Church 406 S.
