Edith Elizabeth Wiggins was born August 5th, 1906 at Sturgeon, Missouri. She was the daughter of Thomas L. and Mary Jane (Taylor) Adams. Mrs. Wiggins formerly lived in Kansas City, Missouri, Richmond, Kansas, and Wellsville, moving to Ottawa in 1946 where she made her home until her death January 18th, 1997 at the age of ninety years. On December 20th, 1930 she was united in marriage with Virgil Wiggins at Liberty, Missouri. He preceded her in death March 5th, 1984. For over twenty-seven years she and her husband owned and operated Wiggins Electric in Ottawa, retiring in 1972. Mrs. Wiggins was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone for nine years. Edith was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ottawa. Surviving are a son, Robert E. Wiggins and his wife Patricia of Ottawa; two grandsons, Jon P. Wiggins and his wife Theresa of Ottawa, R. Michael Wiggins of Deerfield Beach, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Hayden M. Wiggins of Ottawa, Diana R. Hill and Robert W. Hill, both of Blue Springs, Missouri. The last of her family, she was also preceded in death by six sisters, Elsia Patton in 1936, Lillie Brooks in 1958, Anna Sweeney in 1974, Lola Barnett in 1978, Susie Adkisson in 1980 and Delia Crosswhite; two brothers, Thomas Adams in 1971 and Elwood Adams; one granddaughter, Ten L. Wiggins, October 21st, 1996. Services will be held Wednesday, January 22, 1997, at 2:00 PM at Highland Cemetery. Rev. Kent Melcher will be officiating.
