Edith E. Bryson-Diaz, 79, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Rock Creek of Ottawa.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.

The family will meet with friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.

Inurnment will be held later at Paola Cemetery, Paola, Kansas.

Edith was born March 6, 1943, in Enid, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Earl Edward Doud and Hazel Elaine (Hawk) Doud. She grew up in Enid, Oklahoma where she attended elementary school and when she was six years old, sang on stage and was on the radio. She moved to Missouri and later to Paola, Kansas where she lived for many years. In 2010, she moved to Ottawa, Kansas, where she made her home until her death.

Edith was married to Charles Eugene King in 1958 and they were blessed with two children, Tom and Debra, living in Marshall, Missouri. They later divorced.

Edith married James F. Bryson in 1962. They had three children, Jimmy, William, and Sherry.

She was a devoted lifelong homemaker and worked as a CNA, Certified Nurse’s Assistant, at Delmar Gardens in Overland Park, Kansas, from the mid-1980’s to late 1990’s.

She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901 Auxiliary of Ottawa. She enjoyed music, dancing, card games, Rummy, and gossip. Above all, time spent with family and grandchildren was the most important.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Edward Doud, sister Alberta Powell, and daughter Sherry Lynn Bryson-Gillham.

Survivors include four children, Tommy King (Lueza) of Princeton, Kansas, Debra Hiner (Gary) of Ottawa, Kansas, Jimmy Bryson of Gardner, Kansas, and William Bryson (Tinamarie) of Paola, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to VFW 5901 Auxiliary c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
