Earleen Fay Brown was born November 23, 1924, at Ottawa, Kansas. She was the daughter of Cyde Earl and Leta Veva (Leach) Cook. She lived in several states during her life, including Shamokin Dam, Pennsylvania, one year; Valatie, New York, one year; Santa Fe, New Mexico, five years; Chillicothe, Missouri, one year; Abbotsford, Wisconsin; several years in Oklahoma; and a total of forty-five years in Ottawa. She recently moved to Lexington, Oklahoma, where she made her home, until her death Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at the age of seventy-nine years. Earleen graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1942. She was a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church; United Methodist Women Circle; Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 Auxiliary; Union Chapter #15, Order of the Eastern Star; and Ottawa Lodge #803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Auxiliary, all of Ottawa. On January 30, 1943, Earleen was united in marriage with Roy Howard Brown at Amarillo, Texas. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1997. She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karadith Hall; and son, Roy Michael Brown. Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughter, Judith Lynne Raffaell of Lexington, Oklahoma; two sisters, Cleta Vay Garrett of Emporia, Kansas, Gwen Deen Reed of Pickney, Michigan; son-in-law, Garry Jo Hall of Bonner Springs, Kansas; five grandchildren, Jennifer Hoffman, John Hall, Bryan Hall, Tara Jo Brown, and Ronald Brown. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Charlotte Raby IN STATE: Mrs. Brown will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 6:00 p.m. today (Friday) to the service hour. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
