Earl Richard Shaffer

Earl R. Shaffer, 81, of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at the mortuary. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Shaffer after 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 24th. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg. Earl was born June 9, 1936, in Williamsburg, Kansas, the son of Ralph R. and Lorene Oleva (Deay) Shaffer. He was a resident at Winfield 48 years, moving in 1995 to Ottawa. Survivors include his three brothers, twin brother Merl Shaffer of Ottawa, Ralph Shaffer of Williamsburg and Larry Shaffer of Williamsburg; two sisters, Janie Cheney of Great Bend and Nancy Tolson of Ottawa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lorene Shaffer; and sister, Etta Marie Shaffer. He worked in packaging and assembly with Coffee Osage Franklin Training Services. Earl enjoyed country music, best friend, Eli Huske, his roommates at Jamison House, and the entire staff and caregivers associated with COF Training Services.
