Dwight F. `Chip` Detwiler, 61, of Michigan Valley, Kansas died on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at his home. He was born on Wednesday, January 22, 1947, in Ottawa, Kansas. He was the son of Clifton and Francis (Whirley) Detwiler. Dwight was a near lifelong Franklin County resident. He graduated from Wellsville High School with the class of 1964. Dwight worked over thirty years as a welder for Skyhook in Ottawa, until the business was closed and then a year or so for Accelpak , also in Ottawa. Dwight served in the United States Navy from July 1, 1964 until July 2, 1970, attaining the rank of GMG 3 and receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal (with device). On August 13, 1972, Dwight was united in marriage with Audra Jane Schmoe at Ottawa. She survives of their home. Survivors include: Wife-Audra J. Detwiler of their home Son-Samuel Thomas Detwiler and his wife, Diana, of Quenemo, Kan. Brother-Ken Thomas of Quenemo, Kan. Brother-Bob Thomas of Wichita, Kan. Brother-Jim Thomas of Quenemo, Kan. Sister-Sheri Oakley of Conroe, Texas Granddaughter-Brianna Detwiler Grandson-Isaac Detwiler Several neices and nephews He was preceded in death by: Mother-Francis Naomi (Whirley) Detwiler Father-Clifton James Detwiler Sister-Thelma Shaw SERVICES: A graveside funeral service will be held at the Peoria Cemetery 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 12, 2008. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Detwiler at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5 p.m. Thursday to the service hour where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 Thursday evening. CEMETERY: Peoria Cemetery in Franklin County. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to the Dwight Detwiler Memorial Fund or Midland Care Hospice, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
