Dwight D. Fredricks, age 43, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, formerly of Ottawa, Kansas, died Sunday, July 29, 2012. He was born on Wednesday, June 25, 1969 in Ottawa, the son of Clint and Pat (Swope) Fredricks. Dwight has lived in Fayetteville since November 2011 after moving from Lawrence, Kansas, he had spent most of his life in Ottawa. Dwight graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1987, Wayland Baptist University, Hawaii, with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Communication and Bible Studies in 2000 and Regent University, Virginia Beach, Virginia, with a Master’s Degree in Business Management in 2003. Following his career in the Navy, Dwight worked for Intel Corporation in 2000 to 2003, Silicon Valley, California; Amazon.com in 2003 to 2004, Fernley, Nevada; Trinity Home Improvements in 2005 to 2008, Ottawa; American Eagle in 2008 to 2010, Ottawa and was currently with American Phoenix, Inc. 2010 to present, a plant manager in Topeka and Fayetteville. Dwight was a veteran of Desert Shield in Kuwait and Desert Storm in Iraq serving in the United States Navy from 1987 to 2000, attaining the rank of E6 Petty Officer 1st Class; he also served in Rwanda and Mogadishu, Somalia. Receiving the Navy Good Conduct Medal (3); Southwest Asia Service Medal (3); Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (6); Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Navy “E” Ribbon; Navy Unit Commendation; Meritorious Unit Commendation; National Defense Service Medal; Expert Rifleman Medal; Expert Pistol Shot Medal; Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait); Coast Guard Special Operations Ribbon. He was of strong faith, a member of Crosspointe Community Church and former Assistant Pastor. On February 22, 2005, Dwight was united in marriage to Angelena Maddox at Lawrence, Kansas. He is survived by his: Wife – Angie Fredricks of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Children – D. J. Burgoon, Josh Fredricks, Allie Fredricks, Alex Buckley and her husband Christopher, Kyle Burgoon and Ethan Fredricks; Parents – Clint and Pat Fredricks of Ottawa, Kansas; Brother – Steve Fredricks of Lawrence, Kansas; Sister – Kerry Mendell and her husband Richard of Ottawa, Kansas; Brother – Brent Fredricks of Ottawa, Kansas; Brother – Jerrod Fredricks and his wife Brenda of Ottawa, Kansas; Grandson – Daemon Buckley and many nieces and nephews. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at Crosspointe Community Church, 3085 Marshall Rd., Ottawa, 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 6, 2012. IN STATE: Mr. Fredricks will lie in state at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, August 5, 2012, where the family will meet with friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. CEMETERY: Antioch Cemetery, Franklin County.
