Dustin D. Ballantyne, 39, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014, after a long battle with cancer, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, Ottawa, 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 1, 2014. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Ballantyne at Dengel Son Mortuary after 1:00 P.M. Monday, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday. Interment Peoria Cemetery, Peoria, Kansas. Dustin was born on Friday, October 25, 1974, in Abilene, Kansas, the son of Kenneth and LeAnn (Hurlbut) Ballantyne. He lived in Ottawa since 1999, moving from the Abilene area. He attended Chapman High School, Chapman, Kansas. On April 6, 2002 Dustin was united in marriage to Misty Crumley in Ottawa. She survives of their home. Survivors also include his four children, Jade and Cheyenne Breedlove and Mackenzy and Corbin Ballantyne of the home; brother, Scott Ballantyne of Abilene and sister, Kristen McVan and husband Aaron of Abilene; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; mother and father-in-law, Carol and Jack Crumley of Ottawa; brothers-in-law, John and Patty Crumley of Barstow, California, Buck and Lindie Crumley of Homewood, Kansas, and Monte and Betty Myers of Mandan, North Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Dustin worked as a welder/machinist since 1999 for Haven Steel, later known as Schuff Steel, and Accelpak both of Ottawa. He attended Faith Lutheran Church, Ottawa. Dustin loved spending time with his family and children. He enjoyed 4 wheeling, off-roading, hanging out with his buddies and really loved to barbeque. He will be deeply missed and remain in the hearts and thoughts of his family and friends forever. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Dustin Ballantyne Memorial Fund c/o Dengel Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
