Dudley E. Gibson, age 81, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 after battling Alzheimer’s Disease for many years. He was born on Tuesday, September 4, 1928, in Baldwin City, Kansas. He was the son of Chester M. and Henrietta (Pohl) Gibson. He was a lifelong resident of Ottawa and Franklin County, Kansas. Dudley graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1947. He worked in the parts department of Hewitt Chevrolet and Ottawa Tractor and Implement Co. from 1947 to 1966. In 1966 he went to work for his brother, Raymond, at the Bing-Go Dog Food Co. and later became a partner with him and his wife Marguerite where he retired in 2000. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ottawa and a member of the Oxford Service Forum Sunday School Class for over 40 years. On Sunday, June 29, 1947, Dudley was united in marriage with Mildred Mid” Hume in Ottawa , Kansas . She preceded him in death on June 28, 2005. He is survived by his: Daughter-Sally LaPrad and her husband, Steve, of Pratt, Kansas; Son-Phil Gibson and his wife, Claudia, of Ottawa, Kansas; Son-W. B.Gibson and his wife, Barb, of Ottawa, Kansas; Daughter-Julie Adams and her husband, Mike, of Edmond, Oklahoma; Sister-Aurelia Johnson of Ottawa, Kansas; Sister-in-law-Marguerite Gibson of Ottawa, Kansas; Sister-in-law Dorothy Manchester of Ottawa; Brother-in-law Joe Hume of Topeka; Grandchildren-Nine, Great-Grandchildren-Eleven. He is preceded in death by his: Father-Chester M. Gibson, Mother-Henrietta (Pohl) Gibson, Brother-Raymond C. Gibson. SERVICES: Memorial Services will be held from First United Methodist Church in Ottawa at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2010. Family will meet with friends following Services. IN STATE: Mr. Gibson has been cremated. CEMETERY: .Private inurnment at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa at a later date. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to First United Methodist Church, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa , Kansas 66067 .
