Doyle was born Friday, October 18, 1940, in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Ernest and Jessie (Merscham) Roecker. He graduated from Rantoul High school with the class of 1958.
On May 24, 1958, Doyle was united in marriage to Mary Ann Poe in Rantoul, Kansas. They enjoyed sixty-two years of marriage before her passing on April 26, 2020.
He lived in Edgerton, Missouri for more than thirty years, moving from Oregon, Missouri. Doyle previously lived in Craig, Missouri, York, Nebraska and Ottawa, Kansas in the late 1950’s to early 1960’s.
Doyle was employed as a crew caller and depot agent for over forty years with Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a member of the AFL-CIO Transportation and Communications International Union.
Doyle enjoyed fishing, ATV riding, raising cattle, farming, and tinkering. He and Mary spent their retired years traveling, spending the winters in Arizona, and selling at craft fairs and flea markets. He was nicknamed “Boots” for his love of wearing his high-top rubber boots year-round. Doyle was the ultimate resource for good advice and a helping hand. His fingerprints are everywhere in our lives as he always was there when you called. One of his biggest joys were his grandchildren and then his great grandchildren. His face would light up with each new addition to the family.
Doyle was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann; parents Ernest and Jessie; infant daughter Natalie Ann; son Rick Roecker; brothers Douglas Roecker and Leroy Roecker; and sister Dixie Spencer.
Survivors include son Dwayne Roecker of St. Joseph, Missouri; daughter Cheryl Petersen (Terry) of Edgerton, Missouri; daughter-in-law Sharon Roecker of Liberty, Missouri; brothers Wesley Roecker (Bev) of Chanute, Kansas, Eldon Roecker (Betty) of Baldwin City, Kansas, and Robert Roecker (Linda) of Buena Vista, Colorado; sister-in-law Sharon Roecker of Baldwin City, Kansas; eight grandchildren Susan, Stephanie, Jacob, Joshua, Theresa, Alyssa, Ryan, and Elizabeth; and twelve great grandchildren.
