Douglas W. Rains

Douglas Rains, 74, of Cleveland, MO died March 15, 2012 at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, MO. He was born May 16, 1937 at Ennis, TX, the son of Ferrell and Cleo (Hardin) Rains. He was united in marriage to Sandra Seal on June 28, 1958 at Visalia, CA. Doug was a 1956 graduate of Mt. Whitney High School and Fresno State with a B.S. in Social Welfare. He spent the next thirty years as a Tulare County Probation Office. After retirement, Doug started a second career as a government contractor working on military bases throughout the United States. After his second retirement he moved to Cleveland, MO to be near his daughter Anna and her family of Louisburg, KS. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and working on his hobby, genealogy. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include is wife of 53 years, Sandra, of the home; one sister, Sue James, Visalia, CA; one son, Jon Rains, Fresno, CA; two daughters, Kristen Childress and husband Silas, Tulare, CA; and Anna Sprague and husband Steve; Louisburg, KS; five grandchildren, Silas, Logan and Mattie Childress and Lindsay and Keely Sprague. A private memorial service will be held at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House.
