Douglas "Doug" Eble

June 24, 1956 — February 1, 2025

Louisburg, Kansas

Douglas “Doug” Eble, 68, passed away suddenly on February 1, 2025, at AdventHealth South Hospital.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Louisburg United Methodist Church, 249 N Metcalf Road, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. Funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will take place following the service at the Louisburg Cemetery.

Doug was born on June 24, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the youngest of three children to Ray and Maralyn (Merrick) Eble. Doug grew up in Shawnee, Kansas. His childhood was marked by his enthusiasm for motocross racing, where he achieved notable success. Doug’s dedication to personal growth shone through as he advanced in Boy Scouts, ultimately earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He cherished the opportunity he had to be invited to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. Doug graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in 1975.

His professional journey began at Puritan Bennett Corporation as a calibration technician, a place where fate intertwined his path with that of his future wife, Glenda Timm. Their story began with a memorable first date in Doug's red Spitfire, which humorously broke down during their date. Nevertheless, their love blossomed, and the couple was married on September 25, 1983, at the United Methodist Church in Shawnee, Kansas.

Together, Doug and Glenda later moved to Louisburg, where they dedicated themselves to managing the tree farm, building upon the legacy Doug’s father had established. Under Doug's stewardship starting in the mid-1980s, the tree farm became known as DG Tree Farm, reflecting his commitment to this family endeavor.

He was a proud member of both the National and Kansas Christmas Tree Growers Associations and was particularly devoted to his church community at the Louisburg United Methodist Church.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Doug had a zest for life that extended to various hobbies. He enjoyed riding his Harley, working on his Spitfire, and flying remote-controlled planes. His passion for motorcycles also led him to joyfully participate in the Sturgis Motorcycle Rallies, where he cherished the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Maralyn Eble, and his infant brother, Gregory Eble.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda Eble; his sister, Diane (Lynn) Schoening, of Sabetha, Kansas; sister-in-law, Rita (Dave) Hosley, of Olathe, Kansas; brothers-in-law, Eddie (Diana) Timm, of Warsaw, Missouri, Samuel Timm, of Olathe, Kansas, and Dennis Timm, of Edgerton, Kansas; as well as two cherished fur babies, Lily and Issy, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to the Louisburg United Methodist Church or Miami County EMS, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, P.O. Box 669, Louisburg, Kansas 66053.
