Douglas Edward Watts, age 63 of Pomona, KS died July 11, 2021, peacefully at his home. A Celebration of Life will be hosted at Pomona Lake from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 18, 2021. Son of Evelyn Josephine Nuessen & Kenneth Norman Watts, Sr. he was born on January 15th,1958. Doug grew up in Chippewa Hills, he attended school in Greenwood until the 5th grade. From there he continued his education in Pomona, KS and graduated from Pomona High School in 1976. Doug’s occupations included working as a mechanic, heavy equipment operator, and various construction and building trades. Doug was married to Janice Hughes in 1977, they later divorced but were blessed with two children Tyler & Kylie Watts. Doug valued his time spent with family and friends. He was always there to bring a good laugh to the dinner table. You never knew who the next target was to joke around with, and he guaranteed to have a second helping of whatever was being served! One of his favorite monikers was Bleacher Dad/Grandpa because no matter who or what sport was being played, he was there as their biggest supporter. His love of the outdoors brought him many lifetime hobbies. Some of which included fishing, gardening, hunting for morels, and searching for arrowheads to add to his collections. He was a member of the National Hunting Association and an avid participant of the Appanoose Museum Annual Indian Arrowhead & Artifact Show.
