Dorothy Schulz

Dorothy Schulz was born on Wednesday, September 6, 1922, in Rantoul, Kansas. She was the daughter of Ira Thomas and Cecelia Esther (O'Brien) Gregg. Dorothy grew up in Rantoul and always lived in Franklin County, except for four years in Texas during World War II. She moved to Ottawa, Kansas, in the late 1950's, where she made her home, until her death Monday, November 21, 2005, at the age of eighty-three years. Dorothy was a homemaker. She attended Church of the Brethren in Ottawa. On April 5, 1941, Dorothy was united in marriage with John Carl Schulz in Ottawa. They were later divorced. Dorothy enjoyed all her homemaking skills. She was an excellent seamstress and loved gardening and caring for her flowers. Dorothy's greatest joy came from her family and grandchildren. They were all so special to her. Dorothy is survived by four sons, John Carl Schulz, Jr. of Topeka, Kansas, Richard Dale Schulz of Boise, Idaho, Gary Thomas Schulz of Ottawa, Dennis Wayne Schulz of Ottawa; two granddaughters, Megan Bones, Leigh Schulz; two grandsons, Richard M. Schulz, Christopher Schulz; and, two great-grandchildren, Kaelin Bones and Ryan Bones. Mrs. Schulz is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, two infant and James Harold Gregg and Ira Thomas Gregg, Jr.; and, three sisters, one infant and Elsie Higdon and Ethel Kern. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at Ruhamah Cemetery in Rantoul at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2005. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Schulz from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 a.m. to noon Saturday at Dengel & Son Mortuary. CEMETERY: Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul, Kansas.
