Dorothy Maher

Dorothy Ann (Boehm) Maher, 99, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at North Point Skilled Nursing in Paola. Dorothy was born January 30, 1915 at Lenexa, Kansas. She was the daughter of Remi and Mayme (Hauser) Boehm. The family moved to a farm near Paola in 1925. Dorothy graduated from Paola High School in 1933. She was employed as a legal secretary in Paola and later worked for the Department of Defense prior to her marriage to Jack Maher on February 25, 1946 at Holy Trinity Church. Dorothy was a homemaker until 1962 when she began work at Osawatomie State Hospital as secretary to the Dietary Department. She retired in 1978. In her retirement, she enjoyed ceramics, quilting, playing cards and growing flowers. Dorothy was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three sisters, Frances Cooper, Helen Catlin and Aileen Herron. She is survived by her children Judith (Bob) Kobetich of Longford, Kansas, Michael Maher of Ft. Lupton, Colorado and Nancy Delgado of Topeka, Kansas, granddaughters, Angela Maher of Denver, Colorado, Amy (Josh) Pralle of Keenesburg, Colorado and Michelle Delgado of Topeka, Kansas and two great-granddaughters. She is also survived by her sister, Esther Herdman, her brothers Charles (Thelma) Boehm and John Boehm all of Paola and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be made in Dorothy's name to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or the Paola Senior Center.
