Dorothy Marie (Scheer) Foote, age 99, of Bucyrus, KS passed away on June 19, 2011 at Villa St Joseph of Leawood, Kansas where she resided for the past nine years. She was surrounded by her children at the time of her death. The family wishes to thank the staff of Villa Saint Joseph and Odyssey Hospice for their compassionate care. Dorothy was born on January 28, 1912 in Raymore, Missouri to Edward and Wally (Effertz) Scheer. On May 15, 1937, Dorothy married Earl Foote in Lee"s Summit, Missouri. In 1960, they moved their family from Belton, Missouri to Bucyrus, Kansas and farmed there until Earl"s death in 1982. Dorothy was a passionate mother of five and avid farm wife. She took great pride in staying abreast on the grain market, often checking the markets hourly. Dorothy was an active member of Queen of the Holy Rosary church in Wea. It was said by a family friend preceding her death that, "Her faith life was an inspiration to all of us." which is a great summary to the love she had for the lord. She was a member of the Wea Altar Society and did an hour of perpetual adoration until her health no longer permitted. She also enjoyed cooking, serving as a 4-H cooking leader for many years, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil when they took turns spending the night. She was a long time KC Royals Fan and followed KSU Sports. She is survived by a son, Robert and Gail Foote of Bucyrus, and three daughters, Wally Foote of Overland Park, Dorothy Jo and Jack Gessler of Overland Park and Rose Marie and Paul Guetterman of Bucyrus. Daughter-in-law Dee Ann Foote, 19 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Earl of 45 years,her parents, a brother Edward Scheer, son James Thomas Foote of Bucyrus, 2 infant sons and beloved granddaughter Colleen Dorothy Foote. Funeral Mass will be held at Queen of the Holy Rosary, Wea, 22779 Metcalf Bucyrus, Kansas, Thursday, June 23 at 10:00 A.M., Rosary will be recited at 6:30 P.M. on Wednesday evening at the Church. The family will greet friends immediately following from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Holy Rosary School, Dorothy Foote Memorial.
