Dorothy Lee McKelvey, 91, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
A private family graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.
Dorothy was born September 16, 1931, in Fort Worth, Texas, the daughter of William Hugh and Katie Lee (Evans) Baker.
She lived in Ottawa, Kansas from 1955 until 1992 and in Overland Park, Kansas from 1992 until the time of her death.
She graduated from R.L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas, with the class of 1949.
Dorothy was united in marriage with Don L. McKelvey December 7, 1951, at Fort Worth, Texas. He preceded her in death August 20, 1987.
Dorothy was the owner and operator of Dondee Fabrics for seventeen years in Ottawa.
She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas.
Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family dearly. She was an exceptional seamstress and gifted artist with a love of international travel. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her three daughters and grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, William and Katie Baker, and stepfather Gordon Stanley.
Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Zwiener of Houston, Texas, Melissa Munz and husband John of Bucyrus, Kansas, and Leslie Martin and husband John of Overland Park, Kansas; brother Bill Stanley of Texas; six grandchildren, Jessica Zwiener (Jaime Robles) of Houston, Texas, Lindsay Zwiener of Arlington, Virginia, Trey Martin of Overland Park, Kansas, Grant “Jamie” Martin of Brooklyn, New York, John Munz and fiancée Shannon Sewell of Overland Park, and Matthew Munz and wife Jess of Healdsburg, California, and two great grandchildren, Lucie and Maya Robles.
