Dorothy June Elizabeth Reams, 89, longtime resident of Glenn Hill in Danbury, Connecticut, died at Danbury Hospital on Tuesday, May 1. She was born in Ottawa on Oct. 25, 1917, daughter of the late Herbert C. Willrout and Violet Marita (Nutt) Keene. Prior to moving to Danbury, Dorothy was a lifetime resident of Ottawa, working as a secretary for Damron Towner Funeral Home for several years. She also worked for Dengel & Son Mortuary as a night attendant for several years. She was a member of the Oasis Club and a Gray Lady volunteer for Ransom Memorial Hospital, both of Ottawa. She devoted herself to raising her family and caring for her parents and disabled brother. She was a loving caregiver to all of her loved ones. She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Marita K. VanErt of Sandy Hook, and Carol Jane Vaitses and her husband, Stephen of Clinton, Conn.; her grandchildren, Kara L. Mehler and her husband, Pete, Eric G. VanErt, Meagan E. Vaitses, Stephen Vaitses and his wife, Dana, Allayne Boruch and her husband, John, and Allen Vaitses and his wife, Lora; and her 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Richard L. Keene of Bella Vista, Ark., and her sister, Jeanne Collier of Van Nuys, Calif. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Gregory A. VanErt, and her two brothers, Warren Keene and Wallace V. Keene. Funeral services were held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday May 4 at 1 p.m. The family will meet with friends at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007, and process to Highland Cemetery in Ottawa for 10:30 a.m. graveside services. The family has suggested memorial contributions to Franklin County Cancer Foundation, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa, KS 66067.
