Dorothy Joan Meisel

Dorothy Joan Meisel, age 88, of Lincoln, Missouri passed away March 22, 2017 at the Bothwell Regional Hospital in Sedalia, Missouri. She was born December 22, 1928 in Rankin, Texas to Harrison and Ethel Heckman Spaudling. On July 11, 1948, she was united in marriage to Lucky Meisel in Ottawa, Kansas. They lived in Indiana, Illinois and Missouri before moving to Paola in 1959. Here they raised three children. Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, gardening, fishing for crappie, and camping with her family. Dorothy especially enjoyed living at the lake near Warsaw, Missouri after her husband retired. The last few years she lived with her son in Lincoln, Missouri. Survivors are her children, daughter Sherry Mae Snyder and husband Bill of Paola; sons Fred Edward Meisel and wife Linda of LaCygne and Dennis James Meisel and wife Danisha of Lincoln, Missouri; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990, son Bobby age 7, sisters Ena Mae Mock and Geraldene Wall and her brothers Eugene, Dee, Joseph, James, and Alvin Spaulding. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Paola Cemetery, 909 W. Miami St., Paola, KS.
