Dorothy Jean Pritchett was born on Monday, March 23, 1925, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the daughter of Albert Joseph and Ethel May (Howell) Waldman. She lived in Kansas City, Missouri until 1976, Warsaw, Missouri until 1996, and Ottawa, Kansas until May of 2010, moving to Wellsville, Kansas, where she made her home until her death on Sunday, September 5, 2010, at the age of eighty-five years. Dorothy was a homemaker. She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Warsaw, Missouri from 1976 to 1996. Dorothy loved to read, crochet, play cards, and mostly, she loved being around her family. She looked forward to every family get-together. Her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews meant the world to her. She was so proud of her family and loved to brag about them any chance she could. On Monday, June 14, 1971, Dorothy was united in marriage with Ollie Ervin Pritchett in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on August 25, 1977. She is also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Genevieve Pugh, Alberta Mercer, Mary Reynolds; and brother, Richard Waldman. She is survived by three sons, “Sonny” Herschel Shingleton and his wife, Carol, of Kansas City, Kansas, Larry Shingleton and his wife, Myrl-Ann Ransom of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Tom Weir and his wife, Shirley, of Tonganoxie, Kansas; daughter, Sandy Vestal and her husband, David, of Ottawa, Kansas; sister, Patricia Blood; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. SERVICES: Graveside Inurnment Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010, at Green Lawn Cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri. IN STATE: Cremation is planned. CEMETERY: Green Lawn Cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
