Dorothy Eileene Finch

Eileene Finch was born on December 12, 1927, in DeSoto, Kansas.

Eileene was the daughter of James and Grace (Deay) Anderson. She was currently residing in Olathe, Kansas, until her death Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the age of 95.

Eileene graduated from Wellsville High School with the class of 1946.

Eileene started her career as a teacher at Briles School House in Ottawa, Kansas, at the age of 18. This is where she met and soon was united in marriage to Eldon Lee Finch on July 12, 1947, in the Chapel of the United Methodist Church in Ottawa, Kansas. Both her daughters and her granddaughter Jenna were also married at that very same church.

Survivors include her sister Doris (Anderson) McConnell of Wellsville; her two daughters Susan (Finch) Westfahl and husband Randy of Olathe, Kansas, and Janet (Finch) Davis and husband Kirk of Overland Park, Kansas; her five beautiful grandchildren Dustin Westfahl of Overland Park, Kansas, Nate Westfahl of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Jenna (Davis) Hast and husband Calvin of Omaha, Nebraska, Callie Davis of Kansas City, Kansas, and Emma (Davis) Erickson and husband Andrew of Spring Lakes, North Carolina. She was also loved by five amazing great grandchildren Reed, Trey, August, Remi and Mac.

Eileene continued her work life as a secretary at the Ottawa Coop. She then became a loan officer at the Peoples Bank also of Ottawa. She continued her career in banking at the First National Bank of Olathe and then moved to the School Employees Credit Union of KCK.

Eileene’s career interests changed to Apartment Management and Leasing first at College Court Apartments and then Bradford Pointe Apartments in Overland Park, Kansas, where she also resided. She retired as a receptionist at Rose Estates Assisted Living at the age of 85.

Eileene’s hobbies included square dancing, bingo and playing cards. She was also an avid reader.

Celebration of Life services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, Kansas. Family will meet friends from 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the mortuary.

Eileene was a loving, kind and compassionate woman who always loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
