Dorothy Ann Rues

Dorothy Ann Rues, 57, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018, at the Olathe Hospice House. Family will meet with friends from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Memorial services will be held immediately following at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Inurnment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa. Dorothy was born Sunday, June 5, 1960 in Ottawa, Kansas. She was the daughter of Leonard Herman and Clara Irene (Peine) Rues. She graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1979 and from Johnson County Community College in 2013 with an Administrative Assistant degree. Dorothy worked thirty years in avionics manufacturing for King Radio in Ottawa starting in 1979, which later became Allied Signal and then Honeywell, retiring in 2009. She then worked two years for General Dynamics Information Technology in Lawrence. Dorothy loved making jewelry with beads and started her own business selling jewelry to co-workers and enjoyed making things for her family and friends. She is survived by her brothers, Marvin Rues and wife Sherri of Topeka, and Jerome “J.R.” Rues of St. Joseph, Missouri, and her beloved cat, Kirby. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Clara Rues. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Fund c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
