Doris M. Higdon, 92, of Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Homewood Community Bible Church, Homewood, Kansas.

The family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the church.

Interment Antioch Cemetery, Homewood, Kansas.

Doris was born March 5, 1930, in Rantoul, Kansas, the daughter of Edwin and Harriet (Needham) Brownlee.

She was a lifelong Franklin County resident, living in the Homewood Community for over 60 years.

Doris graduated from Lane High School with the class of 1948.

She was united in marriage to Donald R. Higdon October 20, 1949, at Ottawa, Kansas. He survives of the home.

Doris was the bookkeeper and office manager for Rural Water District #4 Williamsburg for 28 years, retiring in 1989.

She was a member of the Loyal Neighbors Extension Homemakers Unit, Homewood Friendly Club, Williamsburg Lions Club and Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Doris enjoyed bowling, bird watching and growing flowers. She also enjoyed watching Royals baseball,

K-State basketball and was known to be a great cook.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Jack Brownlee and John Brownlee, sisters: June Hettler, JoAnne Swoger, Ginger Suther, Belle Collins and Glenna Brownlee.

Survivors include her husband Don, children, Virginia Cook of Williamsburg, Cindy Higdon of Osawatomie, Kansas, Debbie Brown (Keith) of Howard, Kansas; sister, Joy Mitchell of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother-in-law, Joe Suther of Williamsburg; five grandchildren,10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to the Homewood Community Bible Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
