D. Maxine Good, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, at Parkview Heights in Garnett, Kansas. She was born on December 9, 1925, in Augusta, Kansas, to Carl O. and Florence B.L. (Saale) Strom. Maxine was a lifelong resident of Kansas, spending her early years in Wichita where she married the love of her life, Roy L. Good on June 15, 1947, before moving to Ottawa in the early 1950s. In 2013, she relocated to Garnett, where she continued to bring joy to her family and community until her passing.

Maxine was a proud graduate of Wichita North High School in the early 1940s and earned her A.A. Degree from Wichita Business School in 1945. She dedicated her professional life as a secretary and bookkeeper for Rounds & Porter in Wichita, serving the company from late 1946 until 1947. Her career was marked by commitment and professionalism, traits that she carried into all aspects of her life.

An active member of her community, Maxine’s contributions extended far beyond her professional endeavors. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa, Kansas, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901. She was also involved with the East Kansas Home Extension Unit, served as a leader for Girl Scouts, and a Cub Scout Den Mother. Additionally, Maxine made a significant impact as the treasurer of the Garfield Elementary School P.T.A., where her dedication to children's education shone brightly.

Maxine’s passion for family was evident in every aspect of her life. She cherished reading, cooking, and hosting family gatherings, creating memories that will be treasured by all who knew her. Maxine enjoyed camping in her RV, especially when surrounded by her loved ones. She was particularly proud of her role as a matriarch, nurturing the next generations with love and wisdom.

She is survived by her daughter Paulette Holland (Paul) of Loveland, Colorado; her son Gary Good of Princeton, Kansas; four grandchildren: Trevin Holland of Loveland, Colorado, Sarah Stanley (Will) of Cary, North Carolina, Phil Eckman (Sherry) of Gardner, Kansas, and Bryan Eckman (Jenita) of Las Vegas, Nevada; six great-grandchildren: Honore Holland, Cullen Holland, Lorelei Stanley, Elaina Maxine Stanley, Phil Eckman, Jr., and Jordan Eckman; one great-great-granddaughter, Sophie Eckman; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Maxine is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy L. Good, and her parents, Carl and Florence.

A graveside service honoring Maxine’s remarkable life will be held on December 9, 2024, at Wellsville Cemetery in Wellsville, Kansas, starting at 2:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating the life of a woman whose warmth and kindness touched so many lives.

Maxine Good will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and her dedication to her community. Her legacy continues through her children, grandchildren, and the countless lives she influenced along her journey. She will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
