Doris D. Ledom, 87, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Olathe Medical Center surrounded by her family. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Kansas. Family will meet with friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 31, at Dengel & Son Mortuary prior to graveside service. Doris was born Monday, March 19, 1928, in Kingman, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest Lewis and Grace Lucretia (Holder) Mount. She grew up in Kingman, living in various other locations including Clearwater, Florence, Clyde, and Herington, all in Kansas. For the last 52 years, Doris made her home in Ottawa. She graduated from Kingman High School with the class of 1946 and continued her education at Ottawa University where she met Robert. Doris later married Robert Ledom September 7, 1948, in Kingman, Kansas. He preceded her in death August 3, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Grace Mount; sister, Lois Reed; and brother, David Mount. Survivors include her two daughters, Tara Porter of Topeka and Lisa Miller and husband Kenny of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Lindsay Porter, Jen Campbell, Andrew Miller, Addison Miller, Alyssa Crook, and Aaron Miller; and three great-grandchildren, Cade Campbell, June Campbell, and Anastasia Miller. Doris was employed as an office manager for ECKAN in the 1970s. She worked thirteen years for the Ottawa Family Physicians as office manager, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and attended the Oxford Service Forum Sunday school class and Dorcas Circle. Doris was a Girl Scout leader for many years, and a member of the Kansas Medical Assistants and Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a lovely lady, kind to everyone she met. She enjoyed traveling with her grandchildren, cooking, baking, gardening and yard work.
