Doris Ann Dubois, 79, Paola, lost her life April 25th, 2009, after a long battle with diabetes. Doris was born in Scranton, Kansas on June, 14th, 1929, to Everett and Mildred Rice Jolly. She grew up in Burlingame, Kansas, and graduated from Burlingame High School in 1947. She was married to Lyle Dubois on May 24, 1947, in Olathe, Kansas. They moved to rural Stanley, Kansas in 1956. In 1968 they moved to the Paola area. Annie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was involved in school activities and sports for her children and grandchildren. She was a 4-H leader for the Stanley Buccaneers 4-H club for many years and served as class mother for many classes, at the Stanley schools. Annie loved the outdoors and enjoyed working with the horses and dogs. She was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Palomino horse Breeders of America and was a charter member of the Kansas State Horse Show Circuit. She loved to going to horse shows. Annie enjoyed baking, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Lyle of the home, daughter, Verdon Dubois, of Paola, Kansas, son, Terry Dubois and wife Marjie, of Paola, Kansas, three grandchildren, Brian Dubois, Stacey Dubois and Scott and Sherry Dubois, and 2 great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Shirley Seastrom, of Burlingame, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to St. Jude in care of the funeral home, 305 N. Pearl St. Paola, Kansas 66071. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 29 at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Paola Chapel. Graveside services will be Thursday, April 30th, 11:00 AM at the Burlingame, Kansas cemetery.
