Donna Lea Ferguson, 87, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, at Rock Creek of Ottawa, Ottawa, Kansas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00am on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa, Kansas. The Rosary will be said at 9:30am prior to mass.
Vigil for the deceased will be held 6:00-8:00pm Monday, September 16, 2024, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.
Interment Mount Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa.
Donna was born Sunday, August 1, 1937, in Princeton, Kansas, the daughter of George and Lois (Ball) Barber.
She was a lifelong Franklin County resident graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1955.
Donna was united in marriage on June 11, 1955, in Ottawa, Kansas to James A. “Jim” Ferguson. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2013.
She was employed with Rural Water District #2 Lincoln Township as bookkeeper/secretary for twenty-nine years before retiring in 2013. Donna also worked for First National Bank, Ottawa, in the 1960s and as a secretary at Ottawa University in the mid-1970s.
Donna was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of the Lamp Lighters Club in Ottawa.
She expressed her creativity by making various craft projects and enjoyed attending craft shows. Donna also enjoyed canoeing for many years with friends, but she especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Along with her husband Jim, Donna was preceded in death by her parents George and Lois; son Joseph Ferguson; sister Dea Diamond; grandson James P. Ferguson; and great grandson Silas Ferguson.
Survivors include sons James L. Ferguson of Garnett, Kansas and Jerald F. Ferguson of Rantoul, Kansas; daughter Diane Lines (Randy) of Lincoln, Missouri; significant other Larry Northway of Pratt, Kansas; eleven grandchildren Shane Doudna, Mark Doudna (Becky), Kim Sumners (Brad), Chris Ferguson (Emily), Nathan Lines, Bo Ferguson (Jennifer), Neal Lines (Kristen), Nicole Bazil (Jarrod), Sherry Ferguson, and Nicolas Ferguson (Amanda); twenty-nine great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
