Donna Johnston

Donna M. Johnston age 77 of Paola passed away April 4th at home after a courageous battle with cancer. (cremation) Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM Friday April 8, at the Light House Presbyterian Church. Memorials to Cancer or Olathe Hospice in lieu of flowers. Donna was born on January 20, 1934 in Wayne Nebraska to Cecil and Erma Countryman Hensley. She was raised in Nebraska and graduated from Mt Vernon Union High School in 1951 and received her Nursing Degree at the St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1956. Donna worked in various cities in California Hospitals, Modesto, Oakland, Monterey, and Salinas. She was a very caring and devoted to her profession. In September 3, 1993 she was united in marriage to Donald R. Johnston in Cypress Community Church in California. They made their home in California for many years and Donna retired from Nursing in 1995 before moving to rural Paola in 2000. She was a greeter at the local Wal-Mart and enjoyed meeting people. She also enjoyed reading, making cookies and spending time with her husband on the country farm, pampering her horses. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Dwight Hensley. Survivors are her husband Don of the home, son Darren Clark of Hawaii, step son Donald G. Johnston of North Carolina, step daughter Cindy Campbell of Washington State, one sister Myla Dunn of Modesto California, 1 grandchild, 1 great grandchild, 7 step grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren.
