Donald W. Hough, 87, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Highland Cemetery. Don was born Thursday, November 8, 1928, in Ottawa, the son of George Francis and Sarah Wilmetta (McKnight) Hough. A former Wichita, Kansas, resident of three years, he moved to Ottawa, where he made his home since 1953. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1946. Don was united in marriage with Monda Wyatt April 6, 1950, in Viola, Arkansas. She preceded him in death November 4, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Leticia A. Hough; brother, Willis Hough; and sisters, Lorene White and Maxine Lane. He is survived by his three children, Durwin Hough and wife Debbie of Ottawa, Debby Terry and husband Mike of Independence, Missouri, and Daphney Crawshaw and husband Douglas of Pomona; sister, Mary McAdoo of Ottawa; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Don was employed 33 years in construction, operating heavy equipment and building highways for Hamm’s Construction until retiring due to a disability in 1981. He helped build many buildings at Ottawa University, including the Fredrikson Chapel, and was also involved with the construction of the current Ottawa swimming pool. He was a member of the Kansas Construction Trades Union of Topeka. Don loved his family and grandchildren. He loved singing in the choir at North Baptist Church.
