Donald John "Monk" Trumbly, age 84, passed away January 30, 2013 at Louisburg Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. Monk was born September 24, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri to John Edward and Mary Catherine (Sharp) Trumbly. Monk grew up in Osawatomie, Kansas and attended St. Philip Neri School. He served in the U.S. Navy for 2 " years after joining in September of 1945. He married Ila Mae Phillips on February 9, 1951 at Huntsville, Arkansas. Monk worked for Western Steel (J & J Metal Products) for 13 years. He retired from Labors Local 1290 in 1990 after working various construction jobs including 10 years at LaCygne Power Plant. He enjoyed fishing, camping and the grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ila Mae; his daughter Donna Ritter; half-sister Phyllis Henness; 3 half-brothers Francis, Henry, and George Bachman; step-sister Dorothy; step-brothers Charles and Chester Bachman; great grandchildren Renner Trumbly and Jessica Guyett; and sister Anna Marie Forde. He is survived by his children John and Rita Trumbly of Paola, Marcia and Greg Thompson of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Jim and Linda Trumbly of Paola, Steve Trumbly of Paola, Laura Baxter of Louisburg, Linda and Mo Ellmann of Victoria, Texas, Jeff Trumbly of Osawatomie, Bob and Shirley Trumbly of Paola, Francis Trumbly of Garnett, Donnie and Sarah Trumbly of Paola; half-brothers Joe, Jim, Bob, Sam, and Tom Bachman; 27 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
