Donald Ray Batley

Donald Ray 'Don' Batley was born on Tuesday, September 19, 1939, in Blue Rapids, Kansas. He was the son of Kenneth and Bernice (Newman) Batley. Don was raised in Lexington, Missouri, moving to Kansas City, Kansas. In 1988, he moved to Ottawa in Franklin County, Kansas, where he made his home until his death on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at the age of sixty-eight years. Don attended schools in Lexington, Missouri. He was a commercial electrician at his various places of employment over forty years, retiring in 1992. Don served in the United States Navy from February of 1957 to February of 1963. Don dearly loved spending time with his family. He was an avid racing fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR and traveling to auctions. Don is survived by his daughter, Lisa Goudreau and her husband, Brian, of Ottawa; brother, Gene Batley and his wife, Kathy, of Rapid City, South Dakota; grandson, Guy Robinson, II of Ottawa; granddaughter, Amanda Wilson, and her husband, Rocky, of Ottawa; four great-grandchildren, Haleigh Wilson, Aaron Wilson, Hannah Wilson, and Abigail Wilson, all of Ottawa; and best friend, Joy Frazier, of Greeley, Kansas. Mr. Batley is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Helen Schaller. SERVICES: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Batley at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, where family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Friday evening.
