Donald Lee Darby, 84, of Paola, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at North Point Skilled Nursing Home. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2019 at Dengel and Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2019 in Highland Cemetery, Junction City, KS. Memorial contributions are to Good Shepherd Hospice and can be sent in care of the funeral home. Don was born Sunday, July 22, 1934, in Junction City, Kansas, the son of Edgar and Ethel (Gerlecz) Darby. He grew up in Junction City and graduated from Junction City High School with the Class of 1952. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Ida L. Day on July 24, 1955 at Junction City, Kansas where they made their home. They became the parents of five children. He worked as a warehouse supervisor at various companies during his working years. Don had a very deep faith in God. He loved music, camping, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife Ida who died March 14, 2010, his parents, two sons Mike and Greg, and one great grandson Vincent Harrison. Survivors include one son Curtis of Paola; two daughters Debbie Woolard of Wellsville and Terese Harrison of Paola; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two brothers Frank and Edgar, Jr.; many other relatives and friends.
