Donald Lewis Wilhoite, 83 of Springhill, KS formerly from Paola, KS passed away December 26, 2012. Donald was born April 7, 1929 in Paola, to John and Lucy Wilhoite. Donald attended Paola High School, received his GED and joined the United States Air Force, August 1, 1950 during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge July 31, 1954 as an Air-Man First Class. Donald married Willa Marie Greene on October 6, 1957. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year. Donald and Willa lived in Spring Hill for 38 years. Donald started as a custodian for the Paola School District then became the Audio-Visual Director after receiving his associate degree. He retired from U.S.D. 368 after 30 years. Donald Lewis was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Willa, a loving and funning brother-in-law and uncle and will be deeply missed by a host of family and friends. Donald was the only living member of his immediate family. Preceding him in death were his father John Wilhoite Sr.; mother Lucy Mae Davenport Wilhoite; two brothers John Randall Wilhoite and Joseph Wilhoite; three sisters Marian Wilhoite, June Walker and Bonnie Wilhoite. Donald is survived by his wife Willa Wilhoite of 55 years; four brothers-in-law Howard Walker, Richard Dillard, John Burch and Andrew Greene; six sisters-in-law Delores Burch, Ida Mae Wilson, Mary Jackson, Agnes Dillard, Cathy Porter and Vicky Harding; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
