Donald E. Peuser

Donald Eugene Peuser, 80, of Bucyrus, KS, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Saint Luke"s Hospital. Donald was the fourth of six children born to George and Alma Miller Peuser on April 13, 1931. Donald was raised on a family farm near Bucyrus, Kansas. He graduated from Wea High School in 1948 and in 1955 he enlisted in the Army and subsequently attended Flight Training School where he became a helicopter pilot. He was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Connolly on June 7, 1958. Upon graduation from flight school he and his bride Mary were transferred to Alaska and started a family. After a medical discharge from the Army in 1962, Donald and Mary moved their young family back to Bucyrus where they purchased a small family farm. Donald and his family maintained a successful farming and dairy operation from 1962 until his retirement in 2001. Upon retirement Donald and Mary enjoyed attending their grandchildren"s sporting events, traveling (especially with their RV Club), attending military reunions and family time at the lake. He was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish in Wea and was a member of a number of different boards and organizations. He is survived by his wife Mary of the home, children Doug and Dana Peuser of Louisburg, Randy and Edna Peuser of Louisburg, Lorie and Steve Holt of Bucyrus and Joseph and Elizabeth Peuser of Stilwell. Donald has eight grandchildren of which he was very proud of: Marlo, Cody, Ryan, Clayton, Kyle, Chelsea, Alex and Emily. He is also survived by his sisters Delores Meier of Phoenix, Joanne and Mike McElheny of Tucson, his brother Robert and Betty Peuser of Bucyrus, his sister-in-laws Mary Rose Peuser of Paola, Mary Ann Peuser of Gardner, Dorothy Anne Paige of Memphis, his brother-in-law Jack Connolly of Memphis and many nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his older brothers Harold and Jim, and a brother-in-law Bill Meier.
