Donald C. “Don” Lunger, 85, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015, at Ottawa Retirement Village. Graveside inurnment service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 6, 2015, at Highland Cemetery. Don was born Saturday, August 9, 1930, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Clyde Scholl and Jessie Florentine (Strong) Lunger. He moved to Ottawa in 1947, to California in 1973 and returned to Ottawa in 1985. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1948. Don served from 1950 to 1956 in the Kansas Army National Guard, attaining the rank of Private First Class. He was the owner/operator of Lunger & Son Oil Company in Ottawa for twenty-five years through the 1950s to 1970s. He was a member of the Cherry Street Wesleyan Church. He is survived by his three children, Jacki K. Glendening and husband Bret of Osawatomie, Stephen W. Lunger and wife Pam of Ottawa, and Lavonne M. Sharp of Quenemo; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Sharp of Quenemo, Chris Sharp of Vassar, Amanda Sharp of Manhattan, Jenna Lunger of Ottawa, Regan Lunger of Ottawa, Christian Aden of Osawatomie, and Logan Aden also of Osawatomie; and four great grandchildren, Kylie Sharp, Gavin Sharp, Samantha Sharp, and Hunter Sharp. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Jessie Lunger; sister, Gwendlyn Casebair; and nephew, Gary Ball. Don had a love and deep faith in Jesus Christ. He enjoyed singing, fishing, bicycling, teaching children to read, volunteering for Hope House, and delivering Meals on Wheels.
